Summary
Ippo has trouble hitting as a southpaw and Oda believes he can take advantage of Ippo's slow speed. He continues to aim for Ippo's eye and soon backs him into a corner where they exchange as Miyata comments that Ippo can't use his straight in the corner. Ippo is overwhelmed and the referee is trying to decide whether or not to stop the match. Ippo struggles to deliver a good punch, and remembers how he learned to jab. Oda delivers a powerful left to Ippo's cut and the referee prepares to stop the fight, but just as he nears the corner Ippo suddenly delivers two jabs to Oda's face. Oda is surprised and Ippo delivers another series of jabs. Ippo goes in for a finishing jab but the referee stops him and Oda falls to the mat. The referee examines Oda and then declares Ippo the winner.
