Sachiko (サチコ, Sachiko) is a non-recurring character in Hajime no Ippo. She is the girlfriend of Katsutaka Imae, who broke up with her prior to his match against Aoki Masaru before getting back together again afterwards. She is Imae's "Goddess of Victory".

During high school,[1], Sachiko was picked on for her appearance. One day, Katsutaka Imae tried to defend her when she getting picked on, but got beat up instead. He began to learn boxing in order to get stronger, but she did not want him to push himself just for her. She later became disappointed that she could not date Imae since he was always training. When Imae didn't see any progress with his boxing after all of his hard training, he dumped Sachiko to focus on his boxing, subsequently becoming champion.

After the weigh-in for Imae's match against Aoki Masaru, she waited for Imae to finish, having brought food for him to help regain his strength. When she met Imae, he expressed that he did not want the food, nor wanted her to come as he already broke up with her to focus on boxing. Hearing this, Sachiko cried and ran off.

Later, despite Imae's harsh words toward her, Sachiko attended his JBC lightweight title defence match against Aoki, where she prayed for Imae's safety. Her presence helped Imae get a draw against Aoki. After the match, Imae apologised to Sachiko and they got back together.

Appearance[]

She is a fair-skinned woman of average height. She has long black hair that reaches her lower back with bangs going over her forehead. She also has black coloured eyes with well-defined eyelashes at the top and bottom of her eyes. She has pink lipstick. Her appearance has caused her to be picked on in at school. Kimura Tatsuya viewed her appearance as ugly.[2]

Personality[]

Sachiko is kind and cares a lot about Katsutaka Imae. She looks after Imae by cooking him meals during is training.

Etymology[]

  • The name Sachiko is written in katakana (サチコ), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (幸子), it could possibly mean "happiness, good luck" (幸) (sachi) and "child" (子) (ko).
