Recieving Jimmy's Request

Kida informs Miyata's father of Sisphar's request.

When Ichirō wanted to remove the gap between himself and Ippo Makunouchi, Kida went with him overseas to fight in Thai and Korea. In the first match overseas against Rusak Paddy, he was a second for Ichirō. The match resulted in a draw. Within two months in Thai, at Pataya Beach, Kida informed Miyata that Jimmy Sisphar requested a match against Ichirō. Kida was then asked to turn down the offer by Miyata. When Ichirō heard the decision to turn down the offer, he argued against it, wanting to fight Jimmy despite his light punches. Miyata then remembered that he once thought the same thing before wanting to retire. This caused Kida to think Ichirō was considering to retire.

While Ichirō was sparring with Payao, Kida saw that Ichirō was not in good condition and stopped the spar. At the Lumpini Stadium, Kida and Miyata left Ichirō alone as he seemed nervous. Kida believed the new counter may work for Jimmy, however, Miyata stressed the risks behind the counter. When the match began, Kida was one of the seconds for Ichirō. After Ichirō won the match, Kida, Miyata, and Ichirō left for Korea in order to challenge more strong boxers.

Road Back Arc[]

In the anime, Kida was one of the seconds when Ichirō fought against Li Chon Pir as his first opponent in Japan after returning from overseas.

Execution Arc[]

When Tatsuya Kimura visited the Kawahara gym to spar with Ichirō, Kida told Miyata how he saw Kimura as a good fighter as he was able to predict Ichirō's movements.

Bloody Cross Arc[]

When Ichirō fought against the OPBF featherweight champion, Arnie Gregory, Kida was one of Ichirō's seconds for the match. When the match ended in Ichirō's win, Kida gave Ichirō the OPBF featherweight champion belt as he became the new champion.

Part II[]

A Passing Point Arc[]

When Ichirō's fourth OPBF featherweight title defence match against Medgoen Dachboy arrived at the Yokohama Arena, Kida arrived to the ring as one of Ichirō's seconds. In the fifth round, Ichirō defeated Medgeon with a Cross Counter.

Phantom Card Arc[]

At the Kawahara gym, when Genji Kamogawa called the gym, Kida rushed to inform Miyata that Kamogawa was on the line.

Father's Back Arc[]

At the Kawahara gym, Kida mentioned to Miyata that Ippo has a JBC featherweight title defence match two days before Ichirō's title defence for the annual Champion Carnival even though his match against Ichirō was decided. He noted that even though his match against Ichirō wasn't set in stone, it still is a guts move.

Chaos Arc[]

Kida went to the Kōrakuen Hall to be one of Ichirō's seconds in his fifth OPBF featherweight title defence match against the sixth OPBF ranker, Che Jounbong. The match resulted in Ichirō's victory by knockout in the fourth round. Afterwards, Miyata told Ichirō that, due to him breaking both of his fists, his match with Ippo will be rescheduled for another time. Kida was amazed that Miyata could tell that Ichirō had bone fractures.

Destined Boxer Arc[]

Kida with Ichirō in his match against Sultan.

In order for Ichirō to prepare for his upcoming match against the OPBF featherweight interim champion, Randy Boy Junior, Miyata set up a match against Donnie Sultan, who shared the same fighting style as Ippo, to get rid of any potential rust he might have since he could not spar to due his fists being fractured. When the match arrived, he went to the Kōrakuen Hall to be one of Ichirō's seconds in the match. As the match began, Kida noticed how bad the atmosphere is as the crowd jeered at Ichirō for his decision to cancel his match against Ippo to take on Randy. When Kida wondered why Ichirō isn't moving around like he usually does, Miyata claimed that the match should have been over already, thinking that he has a different aim for the match, rather than ending it as quick as possible. The match ended in Ichirō's victory by knockout in the first round with his Corkscrew Counter. In Ichirō's room at the venue, Kida praised Ichirō on his use of the Corkscrew Counter. When the Kawahara coach was worried about Randy studying the counter, Kida was shocked as Ichirō claimed that counters will be useless anyway.

Red Lightning Arc[]

Kawahara gym staff discussing Ichirō's upcoming match against Randy

Kida discussing Ichirō's upcoming match against Randy with Miyata and the Kawahara coach.

At the Kawahara gym, Kida watched videos of Randy's matches with Miyata and the Kawahara coach. Kida was shocked at Randy's skill after watching the videos, and as Miyata explained how Randy's stance changes when his opponent moves to his left or right, Kida noted that his pivot foot doesn't switch so he is able to catch his opponent at unexpected speed and it sees like he stares at them no matter which way they face him. After Miyata claimed that Ichirō needs to learn how to use genuine uppercuts and that bringing the uppercut specialist Ippo to the gym would be a good way for him to learn first hand, Kida mentioned that he can't, as Kamogawa cut ties with the Miyata family. Miyata decided that he would teach his son how to use them. Later while watching Miyata mitt practise with Ichirō, where Miyata would aim high to make Ichirō use uppercuts more, Kida was impressed, and believed that Ichirō could beat Randy with the uppercut without strengthening it due to it already being so sharp.

Later at the Kawahara gym, Takeshi Sendō showed up without notice, trying to get Ichirō to spar with him. Kida and the Kawahara coach didn't want to agree to have Ichirō spar with him, however, Ichirō agreed to it. As the spar began, Kida expressed his worry to Miyata that having two world rankers spar with no headgear and match gloves is dangerous, however, Miyata was looking forward to the dream match. Kida watched the spar, which ended in the second round after Sendō was pleased that Ichirō understood his strength. Later, after Miyata finished his mitt practise session with Ichirō, Kida and the Kawahara coach were worried about Ichirō's harsh weight management, wondering if he will be able to fight.

Later, Kida went to the Yokohama Arena to be one of Ichirō's seconds in his match against Randy as the match began. After the first round, Kida praised Ichirō for surprising Randy with his speed, believing that he just has to keep that pace. During the second round, Kida was surprised by Randy's toughness, as he was hit directly multiple times. During the third round, Kida and the Kawahara were glad to see that the results of the two-on-one training is showing, as Ichirō is successfully using the southpaw strategy against Randy. After the third round, Kida told Ichirō to keep it up and noticed that Miyata is more confident in Ichirō's victory. During the sixth round, Kida was worried about Ichirō, thinking that him and the staff should make a decision the next time he gets hit badly. After the sixth round, the referee asked if he wants to forfeit the match due to Ichirō's injuries, however, Miyata declined. When Kida argued Miyata's decision, Miyata claimed that he will take responsibility for what happens, which Kida wondered what the responsibility will be for. The match ended in Ichirō's victory by knockout in the seventh round using the Corkscrew Counter. Kida got into the ring to help Ichirō up to leave the ring. When they went to the changing room, Kida was shocked when Miyata held mitts and wanted Ichirō to attempt to recreate the punch he defeated Randy with again, however, Ichirō was too exhausted. Later at the Kawahara gym, when Ichirō arrived to report that his check up came up fine, Kida gave him a newspaper that covered the match.
