At the weigh in, Ippo tells the reporters that he will fight as the challenger and learn form his opponent. Sanada expresses feeling the same way but wishes Ippo would look up more and act proudly about the belt that went from Date to Sendou before getting to him.
Dankichi says that Sanada's words served to put more pressure on the champion, but his fighter replies that it was not his intention. He also notes to himself how he wants Ippo to be at his best, otherwise he will not be able to know how strong he really is.
After seeing Sanada's new muscles, Kamogawa deduces that the tsubame gaeshi is some kind of uppercut or hook. He also notices how calm Ippo is, and that he has no need to worry about him feeling pressure as he will be fighting as the challenger.
Before going to sleep, the pressure of being the champion begins to take effect as Ippo looks at his new equipment and remembers Sanada's words. He tells himself that he must not let go the belt and he must win the fight no matter what.
