Reiko Mikami (三上 玲子, Mikami Reiko) is a non-recurring character in Hajime no Ippo. She is the daughter of Nishikawa Boxing Gym's coach Mikami.

Part I[]
Early Days Arc[]
Reiko and Oda at the Riky's.
While Reiko was in a relationship with featherweight boxer Oda Yūsuke, who was being trained by Mikami, her father, they weren't suppose to see each other. However, they met and ate at the Riky's. Reiko began to get worried about Oda's weight control, but Oda claimed that he would not lose. The two then get caught by Mikami who began to make a scene, taking Reiko away from Oda until he straightened up his attitude.
One day, while eating at the Chūka Soba, she overheard Oda's upcoming opponent, Makunouchi Ippo and his friends talking about him. Misunderstanding the situation and believing Ippo to be making fun of him, she decided to not see Oda until he decided to be serious about boxing and defeat Ippo. Her efforts proved to be successful, as her father informed her that Oda had indeed become serious about his training.
Even though Oda lost his fight against Ippo, she did not leave him, but instead was proud of him because of the hard training he did prior to the match and encourages him to keep on fighting.
Appearance[]
Reiko is a young woman who wears eyeglasses. She has dark eyes and long brown hair. She is usually seen wearing a shirt and a skirt.
Personality[]
Reiko is a kind and caring woman who cares for and believes in Oda. She became worried that if Oda hung around with her, it would mess with his weight control. Reiko was angry at Oda when she heard Ippo's friends making fun of Oda and threatened to leave him if he loses the net match. However, despite him losing, she still stayed with him and wanted to cheer for him again.
Etymology[]
- The name Reiko means "the tinkling of jade" (玲) (rei) and "child" (子) (ko).
- Reiko's surname Mikami means "three" (三) (mi) and "above, top, upper" (上) (kami).
