With the Dempsey roll in motion, Ippo hopes to stop Sanada on his tracks, but the latter rushes in against Ippo's chest and by doing so, ends the rotation. Sanada the pushes him away, but with more distance this time Ippo attempts another roll which is neutralized by the hien. Sanada then follow up with a barrage of hiens as he states he can not allow Ippo to use such a powerful technique. Despite being against the ropes and on the losing side of the match, Ippo's eyes are still alive as he prepares to take advantage of the next opening. As it seems that Ippo's peek-a-boo is unbreakable, Dankichi says there is one way he can still get through it. Sanada then launches an uppercut that Ippo predicts, but follows with a second that inexplicably passes cleanly through the guard. Dankichi refers to the move as the tsubame gaeshi.
