SummaryEdit

After seeing Ippo back with his fighting spirit and punching the bag to the ceiling, a surprised Itagaki comments on how powerful he is. Kimura knows that Yamada has vastly improved his boxing, but still thinks Ippo will have the advantage. However, he notes that his softness is still there and might be problematic. Kamogawa tells Ippo that unlike other fights, he will be facing someone who wants to force the match at close range. They agree that there will be no special tactic for Yamada, and will accept his challenge at an in-fight. Despite Ippo's obvious determination, Takamura notes how when Ippo sees Yamada face to face, his thoughts might change.

The day of the weigh ins, both Yagi and Kamogawa are unusually quiet as they reflect on how difficult facing Yamada must be after so long and now as enemies. Ippo corrects them by saying they will not be facing Yamada, but the fighter "Hammer Nao". Hearing this, Kamogawa approves and they enter the room.

Both fighters are below the weight limit, an when the reporters ask for a handshake between them, Yamada simply says that he is thankful to Ippo for what he has taught him, and that now he will be giving him the belt as well. Ippo calmly replies that he does not need to thank him because he never taught him how to take the belt.
