Summary

After hearing Aiko's words, Date tells Nakadai to cover him while he spits all the blood he has in his mouth. Nakadai asks once again if they should stop the fight, but Date says he will win. In Martinez's corner, Stewart is surprised about the fact that they plan to let the fight go on, but Martinez tells him that in boxing anything can happen. Knowing well that he might end up killing Date, Martinez leaves for the tenth round. Aiko reveals that she wanted to stop the fight, but did not try to do it as she feared Date would revert to his old self when he lost in Mexico.

The round starts with Date on the offensive as the audience beg him frantically to do a miracle, but as Takamura reveals, Martinez is aware of the fact that his opponent's right hand is shattered and dodging the left is very easy. Martinez prepares to counter a left and knock him out, but is caught by a surprising right that only serves to further damage Date himself. Ricardo is petrified in front of Date's determination, but is not physically hurt in the least. Date then remembers that the reason for which he fights, is to show the woman he loves how "cool" he really is. Martinez successfully lands a straight left that causes Date's knees to give in, but the latter regains balance and lands a straight himself. Stewart asks Martinez why he is backing down if his opponent is still standing, but the boxer realizes that any more damage would mean Date's death. Full of determination, Date turns his hand and launches yet another heart break shot, but this time it lands on the mark.
