At the day of the weigh-in, Sendou is the first to arrive, and greets Ippo a few moments later. They both make the weight limit and he reporters ask for a handshake between the fighters. They agree, but as Ippo wipes his hand in his shirt, Sendou gets visibly impatient and decides not shake hands stating they are "enemies till the fight is over".
After weigh-ins, Sendou asks Kamogawa if he can be left alone with Ippo for a moment. Despite stating that it is not a good idea to do so, Kamogawa agrees and leaves the fighters alone. While contemplating Kourakuen Hall, Ippo complements Sendou on remaining so calm and states he is unable to do so. Sendou corrects him by saying that despite his appearance, he is more exited than ever and shaking with anticipation. After nearly two years since their last battle, they can hardly wait for the initial bell, and shake hands before departing.
They following day, as a multitude of people gather in front of the venue, Umezawa organizes a cheering squad for Ippo, when he realizes the people from Osaka have traveled all the way to Tokyo in order to cheer for Sendou. Among the spectators there are Kumi, her brother and Nekota, all of whom Ippo sent invitations too prior to the event.
