Summary[]
At the Kōrakuen Hall, the public is in shock at the sight of Miyata's first fight in Japan since his return. Miyata is with much ease, outclassing Li Chong-pil, first ranked fighter from South Korea. Fujii states that even when they expected Miyata to improve on his trip, the abilities he has gained are beyond imagination. In an attempt to restrain the much quicker Miyata, Li pushes him against the ropes. He delivers several attacks that Miyata blocks, but falls victim to a quick strike the audience can not even see. Leaving the hall, Ippo encounters Date on his way home. Date informs him that he will be fighting the fifth ranked in the world, in order to advance for the title after that. Before leaving, Date tells Ippo that if he slacks off, he will be left behind. At the gym, Aoki and Kimura inform Ippo that Yagi got three fighters ready for their comeback matches. Unsure as to who will be the main event, Takamura decides it should be the winner of a paper-and-pencil game. Aoki wins and immediately calls Tomiko to inform her, but his pride soon turns shame when Kamogawa tells them that the main event will be Ippo.
