The battle finally comes to an end, with Ippo emerging victorious and retaining his belt. Sanada is taken away while the public cheers for both fighters, and a barely conscious Ippo can hardly believe he won the match. Kamogawa gets him on his feet, but he can barely stay standing and is taken away without an interview.
In his waiting room, Sanada announces he will be retiring, and Dankichi tells him he will be a good doctor. They are interrupted by a woman, who tells them that Ippo fell unconscious and began snoring.
Sanada goes over to the other waiting room and takes a look at Ippo (who is holding on to the belt). As he checks the pulse, he notices something that makes him react in a way that makes the crew worry, but Sanada states Ippo is simply asleep due to fatigue but will be fine. When asked why he reacted that way, he answers that despite being unconscious, Ippo holds on to the belt so strongly that no one will be able to take it away from him.
