Alfredo's coach is a trainer and coach who trained Alfredo González before he retired.

Background[]

The coach found Alfredo González when he was young. He saw Alfredo's incredible talent and tried to change his vicious style to be like Ricardo Martínez's calmer style, but what was born was Alfredo's own style, the Mextli Mode which combined Alfredo's vicious style with Ricardo's.[1] The coach was Alfredo's chief second in both of his matches against Ricardo for the WBA featherweight title, however, Alfredo lost in both matches.

Alfredo arriving in Japan

The coach and Alfredo arriving to Japan.

When Alfredo González's match against Ippo Makunouchi was approaching, Alfredo's coach and Alfredo arrived to Japan and went straight to the Otowa gym to spar, where the coach was Alfredo's second for the spars. That night, when Alfredo asked the coach if he could spar with a man who looked promising the next day, the coach replied to save it for now since all the stress and power will explode in the main match. On the day of the weigh-in, the coach went to the Kōrakuen Hall with Alfredo, where they meet Ippo.

The next day, the coach and Alfredo return to the Kōrakuen Hall for Alfredo's match against Ippo. The coach and Alfredo head to the ring as the match began, with the coach advising Alfredo to focus and stay in control before the match began. At the end of the first round, the coach told Alfredo to not let his bad habits pop up since he successfully laid out the bait for Ippo. After the second round, the coach becomes worried that Alfredo is falling into his bad habits, but Alfredo reassures him that he is calm. At the end of the third round, while the coach warned Alfredo that Ippo may recover well and come to him with a plan to show the way he got his world ranking, Alfredo planned to Ippo the meaning of world class. After the fifth round, the coach gave Alfredo the permission to do whatever he wants for the rest of the match. After the sixth round, one of Alfredo's seconds wanted Alfredo to stop using the reckless Mextli Mode, however, the coach ordered Alfredo to keep using it and to remember that Alfredo has flown closest to Ricardo, the Quetzalcoatl. After Alfredo knocked Ippo down by a right counter, Ippo's side stepped into the ring, resulting in the referee ending the match in Alfredo's victory. As the coach offered his shoulder for Alfredo to lean on as they walk away from the ring, Alfredo wished to go back home to Mexico proudly.

The coach with Alfredo after his loss against Sendō

The coach with Alfredo after his loss against Sendō.

When Alfredo's weigh-in for his match against Takeshi Sendō, where the winner would earn the right to challenge the WBA featherweight champion, Ricardo Martínez arrived, the coach went to the Arena México to attend it. The next day, he went with Alfredo to the Arena México to be his chief second when the match against Sendō began. During the second round, he believed that Sendō made a huge mistake of turning the match into a street fight, remembering finding a young Alfredo in the streets, turning him into a boxer where his brutal boxing earned him the nickname "Mextli". The coach also recalled how his violent style was defeated by Ricardo, however, a perfect balance between world-class technique and savagery was realised in his match with Ippo, where he further evolved into his half-god half-demon nature. After the second round, he warned Alfredo about how the Japanese become troublesome at this point, advising him to not lose any concentration. After the third round, he encouraged Alfredo to beat Sendō to get to Ricardo and the world title, however, Alfredo replied how he has forgotten about those goals since he was having fun. The match ended in Alfredo's loss by knockout in the fourth round. In the ring, Alfredo announced his retirement to him, as their "team Alf" has been disbanded.
